(MIAMI, October 3, 2014) – In anticipation of Fire Prevention Week which runs from Oct. 5 through Oct. 11, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Fire Prevention Division in conjunction with the Florida Fire Sprinkler Association conducted a side-by-side burn demonstration. The fire safety event took place on Oct. 3, 2014 at the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training Center in Doral, Florida.

The demonstration raised awareness on the benefits of residential fire sprinklers and showcased two identical rooms where fires started; one room contained a fire sprinkler system and another room will did not. The purpose of this fire prevention event was to show the speed at which a fire spreads as well as how fire sprinklers can minimize fire spread. 

Subject matter experts were available to discuss fire safety tips to help residents protect their families at home, the myths and misconceptions about fire sprinklers, the life and property saving benefits of fire sprinklers and the importance of implementing fire sprinklers in homes.
